A common budgeting mindset is the “50/30/20” rule, where 50% goes to needs, 30% to wants, and 20% to savings, which only truly works for a select amount of people. Seeing this rule or a “no spending” budget can overwhelm people who are just starting out.
Budgeting can be mapped out in any way that works for you. If that means 80% to needs, 10% to wants, and 10% to savings or just throwing out the percentage rule all together and tracking expenses alone, budgeting can be worked out in any way possible. A budget works for you, you do not work for the budget.
